Boston terriers are intelligent, friendly dogs with a happy demeanor. They are eager to please and because of that, highly trainable.
Boston terriers have 3 to 5 pups per litter. Most are able to have a natural birth, but some will require help from a veterinarian.
Boston terriers are small dogs, measuring about 15 inches at the top of the shoulder, and weighing up to 25 pounds. They have large eyes, a short muzzle, and large erect ears.
Their coat colors are white with black, brindle, or seal (dark brown) markings.
As its name implies, the Boston terrier originates from Boston, Massachusetts, in the 1870s. First bred for hunting rats, they are now most often companion dogs.
As of 2022, the Boston terrier ranks 24th on the American Kennel Club’s most popular dog breeds in the United States.
